The
Veil
Five metres of draped figure in mirror-polished steel, gold electroplated, standing on black granite at the centre of a hotel’s residential lobby. Supplied and installed.

One Figure, Two Storeys
A double-height lobby for an international hotel brand’s residences. Marble floor, bronze columns, glass to the sky. It needed one piece tall enough to hold the volume and bright enough to read from the doors: a draped figure in gold over mirror steel, five metres from floor to crown.
We made it, brought it in through the building, and set it. One contract, one team.
Scope of Work
- Form development & scale model
- Hand-formed stainless steel figure
- Mirror polish, then gold electroplating
- Black granite base with concealed fixing
- Crating, lifting & entry through the building
- Setting, levelling & final polish on site
What the Gold Doesn’t Show
A figure this tall is a steel skin over a steel spine, and the whole thing has to come in through a door.

The Spine
An internal stainless frame carries the height and bolts down through the base — the folds outside are a skin, not the structure.
The Skin
Stainless sheet formed by hand over the frame, welded, then ground and blended until the drapery reads as one continuous surface.
The Finish
Polished to a full mirror, then gold electroplated so the lobby’s bronze and marble live in the surface. Indoors, the plating holds its colour indefinitely.
The Way In
Crated upright, lifted to the entry level and walked through the building on protected floors; the base went in first, the figure landed onto it, levelled, and given a final polish.

The Numbers
Dimensions and weights are as-built approximations for this commission; every piece is engineered to its site and its route in.
Indicative range for a plated steel figure of this scale — form, finish, granite base, lifting, entry and setting included. Final pricing depends on the route into the building and the finish specification, confirmed in a fixed written quotation before any work begins.
