Illusion
Four metres of brushed gold steel, turning slowly above a black fountain at the entrance. Mostly negative space — the loop rewrites itself every few seconds as you walk in.
The First Thing You See Is Moving
The house is an entertainer’s house — garden, pool, spa, a whole back-of-house built for evenings. The entrance needed one piece to set the tone before any of that. So: a single continuous loop in brushed gold steel, four metres tall, standing in a black fountain and turning on its own axis.
Because it is mostly air, the form never reads the same twice. From the gate it is a ring. Ten steps later it is a ribbon. The turn does the rest.

What Turns It
A slow, silent rotation from a base you never see — sealed against water, balanced for a four-metre form, and controlled like a light.
The Form
A continuous stainless steel loop, hand-formed over a frame, weighted and balanced so the centre of mass sits over the axis and the turn stays smooth.
The Finish
Brushed, then finished in gold — matte enough to hold its colour in full sun, bright enough to catch the fountain lights at night.
The Turntable
A sealed rotating base under the water line: slewing bearing, geared drive and a marine-grade housing, rated for constant water contact and the Gulf summer.
Testing
Balanced, run and re-run at the studio through several iterations before it travelled — speed, wobble, noise, start and stop — then commissioned again in the fountain.
Controlled Like a Light
The owner never touches the base. Everything is a switch, a phone, or a schedule.
Switch
A wall switch inside the entrance starts and stops the turn — the same gesture as the lights.
Phone
Start, stop and adjust from the house app, from anywhere.
Speed
Variable speed, set slow for evenings and slower still for guests arriving.
Schedule
Runs with the fountain and the garden lighting on a timer, and rests overnight.
